NOMADS (1) 1     BLISWORTH (0) 0 -  MATCH ABANDONED

Robinson

Nomads were left frustrated as they saw their match against previously unbeaten Blisworth controversially abandoned at half time due to extreme high winds at Orlingbury Road.

Kettering's answer to Donald Trump, Nathan Eady, kept faith with the majority of the team that had played in the previous weeks convincing win over Orchard Park. The only two changes saw skipper Gary Massie come in at right back for the unavailable Ingham and Norton re-installed up front at the expense of Silenzi lookalike Darren Charsley who was placed on the bench. The impressive line up of substitutes also included yet another of Eady's summer signings - Mark Jackson from Burton Utd. Whilst his inclusion added both some height and another left footed player to the squad, it did mean that gas masks had to be issued as standard before the game, as the addition of another ginger meant that the balance of urine to oxygen in the air reached catastrophic levels.

Starting Line Up - Panter, Massie, Evans, Smith, Robinson, Morris, Piazza, Symington, R Thurlow, C Thurlow, Norton. Subs - Newcombe, Marks, Joy, Charsley, Jackson.

It was obvious to all, that the windy conditions were going to have a massive say in the result of the match, with whichever side that could adapt best likely to come out on top. Crucially, Nomads won the toss and started the game with the wind in their favour. With the home side starting well, Blisworth struggled to come to terms with the gusty weather and Panter was once again a mere spectator as Nomads camped in the opposition's half.

With all the early pressure, a goal just had to come, and it did after ten minutes. Robinson's free kick prowess came to the party yet again, and he curled a delighful left foot shot into the far corner of the net for his second goal in as many games.

The rest of the half continued in the same fashion, but with ten minutes to go before the break, a clumsy touchline challenge on gypsie's whippet Symington caused a long stoppage that was to be a pivotal factor in what was to come.

As both teams went back to the changing rooms at half time, both managers and captains were called into the referee's office where the decision was made to abandon the game in the interest of player safety. It was an unfortunate end to a game which realistically could have gone either way had it been allowed to continue, but meant that both sides kept their unbeaten records intact.

Next week's game sees Nomads at home again to a Cold Ashby side who have yet to register a point this season.

Individual Ratings (out of 10)

Panter (7) - Only had one save all game. Wind assisted kicks were massive!!

Massie (7) - Mr Utility slotted straight in at full back with no problems. Severe arm ache after the game following at least 100 throw ins.

Evans (7) - Quiet game for 'Giggsy'. All passes stayed on the pitch, no doubt helped by the strong cross wind.

Smith (7) - Despite passing a 'rigorous' pre match fitness test, pee pee pants had to come off again with his dodgy hamstring.

Robinson (8) - Scored a great free kick and got forward a lot more this week.

Piazza (7) - Another good display from Rob Castka lookalike Samps. Got the ball down and passed it well.

Morris (7) - Busy performance this week and caused the opposition problems when on the ball.

Symington (7) - Was involved in the thick of most of the chances on goal. Hopefully injury will not keep him out too long.

R Thurlow (7) - Saw a lot of the ball as the wind was in his favour and put some dangerous crosses in the box.

C Thurlow (7) - Buzzed around as usual but not able to create any clear chances as final pass let him down.

Norton (7) - Held the ball up well in difficult conditions. Is now on Robbo's winky watch radar in next weeks showers.

Joy (7) - Looked solid when came on for Smith yet again.

Marks (7) - Only on the pitch for 10 minutes.

Charsley () - Not used.

Newcombe () - Not used.

Jackson () - Not used.

Eady's Epilogue

I think we dealt really well with the terrible conditions - I was also glad that my extra hold Cossack hair lacquer kept my bouffant looking pristene throughout!

"Potty Mouth" Pete - the views of the chairman

F**king joke that ref called the first team game off!!!
